The Maldrezzan Coast & Making up for Lost Time!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we’re back once again with another weekly blogpost after a brief break! While losing out on a week of blogging does suck a little, the wait has definitely been worth it! I have a number of things to talk about this week, and a number of things I can talk about if I have time, so let’s dive in and get this kicked off with the usual!
The Maldrezzan Coast
With the Heart of the Eclipse empire behind them, Tearna and her expedition find themselves wandering into the southern regions of Falador! Long behind them now are the blizzards and freezing cold, and ahead of them are nothing but tropical skies and warm oceans as they begin to explore the Maldrezzan Coast! The Maldrezzan coast is a region on Falador defined as the coast near the port city of Maldrezza, hence the name. This coast is known for its blackened, jagged rock and sandy beaches! With such warmth and hospitable weather, it only makes sense that the wildlife here is quite exotic! The ocean is bursting with wildlife of all varieties, and by the end of this expedition, Tearna is going to be needing a new journal!
As said with the release of the Heart of the Eclipse, part one of Tearna’s journal is solidly behind us. All of the initial chapters were dominated by the shadow of the Clockwork Crisis, and now we are finally moving out into new terrain! That means more of a focus on Tearna, her friends, and the funny creatures that inhabit their planet! The Maldrezzan coast is effectively the vacation chapter where everyone gets to unwind a little, and they’re definitely paying it forward for what’s coming next! Once they leave the coast behind, they’ll be on their way to Garodar, the Volcanic Island!
The Sapphire Verdict
At long last, it’s time to finally address this, and boy does it feel good! My big overhaul pass on the Sapphire Verdict is, finally, at an end! At least for now… I have cut down HARD on all chapters and managed to knock off an estimated 150,000 words, so we should firmly be in the 300,000s now. I’ll have a number probably by tomorrow in terms of the new length. It was a long and hard battle, but it’s not over. With the book cut down, it’s time to actually search for a developmental editor so we can get this down even further and perhaps finally land an editor. This process has sucked, truthfully, but hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel now. In other words, my writing is free once again, and I have NO idea what I’ll be working on while an editor attacks me on the side. There might be a surprise short series coming up, or maybe just me getting ahead on editing some of these other things. Heck if I know! AT least the ball is finally moving somewhere!
(F)art
Back on the subject of art, I have an in progress piece to show off! Behold! Tearna, the cheeto colored Krysheek!
Yeah, I realized halfway through drawing her that I made her a cheeto. Oh well. In this shot, she is swimming in the Esterian sea to check out some of the local wildlife, which led to a literal face to face encounter. This was a very experimental piece, and I’m surprised it’s coming out as well as it is given my lack of skills with water based stuff. I feel a little more confident than I did before, and I’ve also begun the process of removing ALL the black lines from this piece. I am hopeful that, by the end of this, it can stand without any black lines at all, but time will tell!
Youtube/Twitch
We hit numerous milestones on both fronts, so let’s go over this a little. In terms of twitch, we are no THREE of four in terms of affiliate progress! That’s a HUGE milestone, and now all that’s between us and getting that last little bit is the follower count! I’m working on some ideas to help boost this, mostly in terms of begging, but we’ll see what the next few months bring around!
In terms of Youtube, our subscriber count continues to grow each week! Recently, I had a video that managed to hit a whopping 4000 views! That is INSANE! I couldn’t believe it went that viral given how small my channel is, but it gives me hope that it will continue to grow as time progresses, and I’m certainly not planning on slowing anytime soon! Stay tuned!
Conclusion
I’m steadily getting in the habit of NOT writing a huge wall of text each time I do a blog. After all, no one wants to read a wall of text! That covers all the major stuff for this week, so now I need to be off to get ready for this week’s wednesday stream as well as a couple of youtube uploads that need to go out! Cheers!
