Happenings
Hoo boy it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, but at least I didn’t let it go a whole month! A lot of stuff has been happening since my last post, hence why it’s taken me so long to make a new update and, unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot to say about it right now… HA! I can talk about some of it.
This month has been an absolute whirlwind between the stress of making new query letters, getting twitter online, editing the second book, kicking out the second short story, my birthday, and the usual stuff I have to deal with at work. Keeping up with it all has been a small task, but things are finally starting to level back out enough for me to return to some semblance of normalcy. There were a couple of big game releases this month on top of all the normal stuff I try to do on the sides, but with those releases behind me, I’m starting to shift my focus back towards the website, getting social media more up to speed, and a couple of other projects I can’t talk about in full just yet. Mostly because I’m not sure they’ll see the light of day… Making a video game is very difficult for one person working a full time job AND writing a book at the same time, but hey, apparently I can’t find enough to keep myself busy.
Since the last update, obviously the second of the three short stories has dropped. This one focuses on Vargoth, supreme General of the Sapphire Eye and the left hand of Sapphiria herself. Of all the automatons in the empire, he is perhaps the most loyal and ruthless of them all. His empress’ mission is his mission, and he is both proud and joyful to carry out her invasion against the humans of the UEC. His hatred for them is unparalleled, and he shows no mercy against any foe, no matter how weak they might be. With the onset of her invasion, he overseas the fall of the planet Sekhmet, but he can’t quite resist the allure of getting his own hands dirty in the midst of the fighting. Those who wish to read more about his exploits may refer to my Hand of Vengeance short story, or even his character biography in the Sapphire Universe page. He does not yet have a character portrait, but I hope to have one made of him at some point if I can ever figure out how copyright and IP fully works. It’s way more complicated than it has any right to be…
In other news, I’ve been keeping up with my pixel art studies and have slowly been developing more of my own unique style. Creatures and characters continue to prove to be my strong point, weirdly enough, but architecture is absolutely kicking my fuzzy fennec ass. Seriously, why are buildings so difficult to make look good?! I have nothing I want to show about this just yet, but, perhaps soon, I can create something I feel comfortable sticking on the gallery. The only problem is finding something that I’m not afraid of someone stealing…
In regards to the book, I’m still working on trying to find an agent. It’s a very, very competitive field, one that’s getting even more competitive as time goes on in ways I never could have imagined ten years ago, not that my lack of a social battery is helping anything. Sending out queries is quite literally like pulling teeth for me, and I am overwhelmingly ready to be done with this and get back to actually writing because I would very much like to be done with this story before I turn 100.
I don’t want to make these blogs too long because I know how I am, so the last bit of thought vomit I have for today is simple. For more years than I can remember, I’ve been wanting to get into streaming something, but finding a game that clicks has been tough. I’ve never been certain of what I want to stream and I’ve always been too scared to try anything. Did I mention my small social battery yet? All that being said, I’ve started setting sights on certain genres and ideas that I might be able to make myself go through with, and this whole V-tuber thing I’ve seen might give me an out to help with my social anxiety. In case anyone didn’t notice on the about me, I really, REALLY do not like showing my face. Right now, I’ve been thinking about something pokemon related, Link to the Past rando, WoW (Because I can’t get away from it) or possibly some other switch games I might want to speedrun. There are a lot of possibilities, and I’m hoping that me opening up more on social media will help kick me in that direction. Hey, a fennec can dream, right? Right…
That’s all I feel like for today. I have other social matters that must be attended to, including posting this blog on twitter, and I have got to respond to texts. Does anyone else find texting to be like pulling teeth? I swear I grew up during the texting revolution!
Until next time!
