Brief Thoughts
Once more, into that time of week again. Last week had a lot for us to go over, and this week… hasn’t got much! Although it was a long weekend, I can confidently say that nothing really happened and I don’t have much to show off right now. Since I don’t have much to go over, this post is going to be a few brief updates, some thoughts, and that’s about it!
Book 2
Book 2 is past its first editing phase! Hooray! In total, I took somewhere around 5 months to remove 200,000 words from it. That is an INSANE number of words, and the scary thing is that there’s even MORE to remove. Although that definitely makes it sound like there’s a lot more to do, I think the biggest effort is behind me. With that out of the way, book 2 is even closer to being in a perfectly public presentable state, but, for the time being, that allows me to turn my focus elsewhere!
Book 1
Why am I talking about Book 1 again all of a sudden? Well, to put it simply, I’m still not getting any hits on agents, and I’m not getting ANY feedback for any of them. Thus, I have to try and figure out where the problem is (aside from the massive word count). With my time freed up, I’ve begun the process of reanalyzing the first chapter to see if it’s as buttoned up as it needs to be. I thought it was, but when I reviewed it… It turns out that it’s not. What I think happened is that I spent SIX freaking years editing, and by the time I was nearing the end, I was tired beyond belief. I think I skimped on the first chapter, which was obviously STUPID, so now I’m going through and buttoning it up a little bit. What that really means is reworking sentences and cutting a little more than what was there. Ultimately, it’s the exact same chapter, just a little more professional.
Art Stuff
For art stuff, I have started working on Atom’s reference sheet. It’s coming along well so far, but it’s going to take more time to get done. I wouldn’t anticipate seeing it in the wild until much later in the month, if even that. In the meantime, I want to make more time for art as a whole, so maybe I’ll finish a few small things over the coming weeks!
Conclusion
Told you it was short this week! I really truly do have nothing! My hope is that over the next week things settle down and I can finally unwind a little from all the madness unfolding in different parts of my life, but next week might be a bit bare bones as well. That being said, next week will be another chance for an analysis post on Sapphire Verdict stuff, so expect another large write up pretending that I’m actually feeling well!
